Senior Structural Engineer

I'm currently working with a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Hemel Hempstead that is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing team.

With a strong reputation across the residential sector, the business delivers a broad range of projects including bespoke residential properties, large-scale housing developments, apartment schemes, and mixed-use developments for a loyal and expanding client base. Their continued success has created an opportunity for an ambitious engineer to play a key role in the delivery of projects and the future growth of the practice.

The Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, working closely with developers, architects, contractors, and private clients to deliver practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the design and delivery of residential and mixed-use projects
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Producing and reviewing structural calculations, reports, and technical drawings
• Attending client and design team meetings
• Coordinating with architects, contractors, and external consultants
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
• Assisting with project planning and resource management

Project Portfolio

You'll gain exposure to a variety of schemes including:

• Residential developments
• Housing and apartment schemes
• High-end private residential projects
• Extensions and refurbishments
• Mixed-use developments
• Occasional commercial and education projects

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy
• Strong technical design experience across steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
• Experience delivering residential-led projects
• Ability to manage projects and liaise directly with clients
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous
• Ambitious and motivated to progress your career
