Job Profile SummaryThe focus for the Originator will be carbon origination and, in particular, offsets from Natural Climate Solutions (NCS). These are recognized as the largest, fastest opportunity to deliver material carbon offsets by both reducing emissions from deforestation and creating carbon sinks. The Low Carbon Trading team is a market leader in this area with a proven track record and the new position will help accelerate growth. At bp, we have an opportunity for a Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) Low Carbon Originator to join in our ambitions to net zero and improving people’s lives.As an NCS Originator, you will source environmental projects and programs contracts within the Low Carbon Trading & Origination Team (LCT) and will be integral to the success of accelerating the growth of LCT low carbon portfolio.You will focus on sourcing NCS projects in Latin & South America as well as Africa, collaborating with an integrated team of likeminded NCS professionals to build a portfolio of projects. You will work with strategic commercial partners, NGOs, communities and governments. You will contribute commercial value to the LCT portfolio by advising and carrying out strategies based on deep analysis of fundamental and technical data.Our team is global - operating in Houston, Chicago, Calgary, London, Shanghai and Singapore. We are motivated by collaboration and support other LCT originators and traders on their activities related to carbon offsets.Our work is diverse - Offsets can come from a wide range of technologies and geographies, including reforestation, afforestation, energy efficiency measures, landfill gas utilization.
